Unpacking

To protect it from shock and vibration during transit, this printer comes packaged in cushioning foam and secured with tape. Remove the protective materials after placing the printer in the location where it will be installed.

WARNING


  • The following explains the warning messages on the plastic bag used in this product's packaging.

    • Keep the polythene materials (bags, gloves, etc.) supplied with this machine away from babies and small children at all times. Suffocation can result if polythene materials are brought into contact with the mouth or nose.

CAUTION


  • The printer weighs approximately 57 kg (125.7 lb.).

  • When moving the printer, hold the handles located on both sides, and then lift it slowly. Lifting it carelessly or dropping it may cause an injury.

Important

  • The removed tape is sticky. Be careful not to let the sticky side touch your skin or clothes.

  • Do not grip the tray area when lifting the printer.

  • Make sure that paper clips, staples, or other small metallic objects do not fall inside the printer.

1Remove the plastic bag.

2Lift the printer using the inset grips on both sides of the printer.

Lower the printer slowly and carefully to prevent getting your hands stuck.

When moving the printer, do not hold the following parts. Doing so may cause them to break.

  • The handle on the standard paper feed tray

  • The underside of the bypass tray

  • The underside of the box containing the controller board (on the back of the printer).

3Remove the adhesive tape attached on the machine's exterior.

4Carefully open the left cover.

5Turn the green lever counterclockwise, and then slowly open the inner cover.

6Remove the securing pin, as shown, from the transfer unit. Pinch it, and then pull it out.

7Turn the green lever of the transfer unit counterclockwise to unlock the unit. Remove the protective sheet, as shown. Pinch the orange tape, and then pull it out.

8Turn the green lever clockwise to lock the unit.

9Close the inner cover.

10Lock the inner cover by pushing on both ends, and then turning the green lever clockwise.

11Close the left cover.

Using both hands, push the left cover firmly, until it clicks into place.
