Changing the LPR port setting

Using Windows 7 as an example, this section explains how to change the LPR port setting.

1Right-click the icon of the printer you want to use in the [Device and Printers] window, and then click [Printer properties].

Under Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, click the icon of the printer you want to use in the [Printers] window.

Under Windows 8/8.1 and Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, click [Settings] on the Charm Bar, click [Control Panel], then click [View devices and printers] on the [Control Panel] window, right-click the icon of the printer you want to use, and click [Printer Properties].

2Click the [Ports] tab, and then click [Add Port].

3Click [LPR Port], and then click [New Port].

4In the [Name or address of server providing lpd] box, enter the printer's IP address.

5In the [Name of printer or print queue on that server] box, enter “lp”, and then click [OK].

6Close the printer port dialog box.

7Check the location for the selected printer, and click [Close].
