You can use the printer in a DHCP environment. You can also register the printer NetBIOS name to the WINS server when it is running.
Printers that register the printer NetBIOS name to a WINS server must be configured for the WINS server.
Supported DHCPv4 servers are the Microsoft DHCP Server included with Windows Server 2003/2003/2008/2008 R2/2012/2012 R2, and the DHCP server included with NetWare and UNIX.
Supported DHCPv6 servers are the Microsoft DHCP Server included with Windows Server 2008/2008 R2/2012/2012 R2, and the DHCP server included with NetWare and UNIX.
The DHCPv6 function is not available for the WINS server.
If you are not using the WINS server, save the printer's IP address in the DHCP server so the same IP address can be assigned every time.
To use the WINS server, change the WINS server setting to "active" using the control panel.
Using the WINS server, you can configure the host name via the remote network printer port.
The DHCP relay-agent is not supported. Using the DHCP relay-agent on a network via ISDN will result in increased line charges. This is because your computer connects to the ISDN line whenever a packet is transferred from the printer.
If there is more than one DHCP server, use the same setting for all servers. The printer operates using data from the DHCP server that responds first.
