Printer Features

Select [Printer Features] in the pop-up menu to change the printer specific settings.

The available items and settings may differ depending on the printer model and attached options. The display for the printer functions can be switched by selecting the [Feature Sets:] list.

  1. Fit to Paper:

The document is automatically reduced or enlarged to fit the paper size selected.

    • Prompt User

The print job is performed with the size of document to be printed unchanged.

    • Nearest Size and Scale

If the paper size is smaller than the selected paper size, the driver reduces the print size. If the paper size is larger than the size of document to be printed, the print job is not adjusted to fit the paper size.

    • Nearest Size and Crop

The print job is performed regardless of any differences between the selected and actual paper size. However, the print job is not adjusted to fit the paper size.

  2. Resolution

Select a resolution. The higher resolution will result in better print quality but may cause printing to take longer.

  3. Print Mode:

Select whether or not to conserve toner when printing.

    • Off

Suitable for images such as photographs that contain fine gradation in tone.

    • Toner Saving 1

Reduces the amount of toner used when printing.

    • Toner Saving 2

Further reduces the amount of toner used when printing (a great reduction than when [Toner Saving 1] is selected). While this increases the life of the toner cartridge, the output appears slightly lighter.

  4. Image Smoothing:

Select whether or not to perform image smoothing, or specify the threshold resolution to apply smoothing.

  5. Dithering:

Select a dithering pattern suitable for the document image.

    • Auto

Automatically configures the best dithering method depending on the appearance of the document to print.

    • Photographic

Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for photographs.

    • Text

Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for text.

    • User Setting

Select this when you print images set in half tone in your application.

    • Reduce Missing Colors and Blurring

Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for the graphics.

  6. Paper Type:

Select the paper type to use.

  7. Rotate by 180 degrees:

Select whether or not to rotate the image by 180 degrees when printing.

  8. Orientation Override:

Select this setting when paper orientation cannot be specified in some applications. If data is rotated in unwanted direction on the output page, use this setting to specify the data orientation to be applied when printing.

  9. Watermark:

    Set the Watermark function.

  10. Watermark Text:

    Select the Watermark text type.

  11. Watermark Font:

  15. Banner Page:

The banner page is printed first in each print job. It shows the user name, the time and date when the job was printed, the host name, and the job name.

This function is available only if you selected [Normal Print] in the [Job Type:] list.

  16. Banner Page Input Tray:

    Select an input tray.
