Registering an NCP Folder

1Display the initial settings screen.

  • When using the standard operation panel

    Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.

  • When using the Smart Operation Panel

    Press the [Home] key on the top left of the control panel. Flick the screen to the left, and then press the [User Tools] icon (Operation panel screen illustration) on the Home screen 4.

2Press [Address Book Mangmnt].

3Check that [Program / Change] is selected.

4Press the name you want to register or enter the registered number using the number keys.

You can search by the registered name, user code, fax number, folder name, e-mail address, or IP-Fax destination.

5Press [Folder].

6Press [NCP].

7Select "Connection Type".

If you want to specify a folder in an NDS tree, press [NDS]. If you want to specify a folder on a NetWare server, press [Bindery].

If you have set "Connection Type" to [NDS], enter the user name followed by the name of the context where the user object is located. If the user name is "user" and the context name is "context", enter "user.context".

8Specify the path.

For details about how to specify the path manually, see Locating the NCP folder manually.

For details about how to specify the path using Browse Network, see Locating the NCP folder using Browse Network.

9Press [Connection Test] to check the path is set correctly.

10Press [Exit].

If the connection test fails, check the settings, and then try again.

11Press [Auth. Info], and then press [Down arrow keyNext].

12Press [Specify Other Auth. Info] on the right side of "Folder Authentication".

When [Do not Specify] is selected, the NCP User Name and NCP Password that you have specified in "Default User Name / Password (Send)" of File Transfer settings are applied. For details, see File Transfer.

13Press [Change] under "Login User Name".

14Enter the login user name, and then press [OK].

15Press [Change] under "Login Password".

16Enter the password, and then press [OK].

17Enter the password again to confirm, and then press [OK].

18Press [OK].

19Press [Exit].

20Close the initial settings screen.

  • When using the standard operation panel

    Press the [User Tools/Counter] key.

  • When using the Smart Operation Panel

    Press [User Tools/Counter] (Operation panel screen illustration) on the top right of the screen.

Note

  • NCP is available only when an optional NetWare unit is installed.

  • To register the name, see Registering User Information.

  • You can enter up to 128 characters for the user name and password.

  • To specify a folder, you can either enter the path manually or locate the folder by browsing the network.

  • If User Authentication is specified, contact your administrator.

  • When using the Smart Operation Panel, you can display the Address Book screen by pressing the [Address Book Management] icon on the Home screen 4.
