Printer Features

Select [Printer Features] from the pop-up menu to change the printer specific settings.

The available items and settings may differ depending on the printer model and attached options. The display for the printer functions can be switched by selecting the [Feature Sets:] list.

  1. Resolution:

    Select the output resolution setting.

  2. Fit to Paper:

    The document is automatically reduced or enlarged to fit the paper size selected.

    • Prompt User

      The print job is performed with the size of document to be printed unchanged.

    • Nearest Size and Scale

      If the paper size is smaller than the selected paper size, the driver reduces the print size.

      If the paper size is larger than the size of document to be printed, the print job is not adjusted to fit the paper size.

    • Nearest Size and Crop

      The print job is performed regardless of any differences between the selected and actual paper size. However, the print job is not adjusted to fit the paper size.

  3. Collate Type:

    Select a type of collation if the Collate function is selected in the printer settings.

  4. Print Mode:

    Specify whether or not to conserve toner when printing.

  5. Image Smoothing:

    Specify whether or not to perform image smoothing, or specify the threshold resolution to apply smoothing.

  6. Dithering:

    Select a dithering pattern suitable for the document image.

    • Auto

      Automatically configures the best dithering method depending on the appearance of the document to print.

    • Photographic

      Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for photographs.

    • Text

      Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for text.

    • User Setting

      Select this when you print images set in half tone in your application.

    • Reduce Missing Colors and Blurring

      Performs dithering using a pattern appropriate for thin lines and small fonts.

  7. Paper Type:

    Select the paper type to use.

  8. Destination:

    Select the output tray in which the printed paper is delivered.

  9. Staple:

    Specify whether to staple the output sheets. When enabling the staple function, specify the staple position.

  10. Punch:

    Specify whether to make punch holes in the output sheets. When enabling the punch function, specify the punch hole position.

  11. Fold Type:

    Specify whether or not to fold the output sheets. When enabling the fold function, apply the following fold type:

    • Half Fold

      Folds prints in half along their long edge.

    • Letter Fold-in

      Folds prints into thirds with their two end segments folded one on top of the other.

    • Letter Fold-out

      Folds prints into thirds with their two end segments folded in opposite directions.

    • Double Parallel Fold

      Folds prints in half and then in half again with all folding edges aligned parallel to each other.

    • Gate Fold

      Folds prints into four segments, with their two end segments folded inward.

    • Half Fold - Print Inside (Finisher Booklet Tray)

      Folds prints in half with the printed side facing inside and delivers them to the finisher booklet tray.

    • Half Fold - Print Outside (Finisher Booklet Tray)

      Folds prints in half with the printed side facing outside and delivers them to the finisher booklet tray.

    Inside printing

    In the print dialog box, specify only the type of fold that you require. By default, the print will appear on the inside of the folds.

    If you want the folded sheets to open to the left or top, you must also select [Rotate by 180 degrees] in the print dialog box.

    Outside printing

    If you want the print to appear on the outside of the folds, in the print dialog box you must select [Letter Fold-out] for the type of fold. When this fold is selected, the print appears on the outside of the folds by default. If you select any other type of fold, the print will appear on the inside of the folds.If you want the folded sheets to open to the left or top, you must also select [Rotate by 180 degrees] in the print dialog box.

    If you want to specify other types of fold, use one of the following procedures.

    • When one-sided printing is enabled

      In the print dialog box, select the fold type you require and set [Eject Face-up] to [On]. If you want the folded sheets to open to the left or top, you must also select [Rotate by 180 degrees] in the print dialog box.

    • When duplex printing is enabled

      In the print dialog box, select the fold type you require and set [Page Order] to [Reverse]. If you want the folded sheets to open to the left or top, you must also select [Rotate by 180 degrees] in the print dialog box.

    • In some applications, changing the [Orientation] setting to [Landscape] can result in folded sheets opening in the opposite direction to that specified in the print dialog box.

    • The reverse order printing function might not work from some applications. If this is the case, specify reverse order printing using the application's settings.

  12. Multi-sheet Fold:

    Specify whether or not to fold multiple sheets of paper at a time when [Fold Type:] is specified.

    Up to three sheets can be folded at a time when [Half Fold], [Letter Fold-in], or [Letter Fold-out] is selected in [Fold Type:].

    Up to six sheets can be folded at a time when [Half Fold - Print Inside (Finisher Booklet Tray)] is selected in [Fold Type:].

  13. Z-fold:

    Specify whether or not to make Z-fold for the output sheets. When enabling the Z-fold function, apply the following fold type:

    • Bottom Fold

      Folds prints so that their bottom end segment is on top.

    • Right Fold

      Folds prints so that their rightmost segment is on top.

    • Left Fold

      Folds prints so that their leftmost segment is on top.

  14. Perfect/Ring Binding:

    Specify how to bind the output sheets.

    • Perfect Binding

      Applies Perfect Binding to prints.

    • Ring Binding

      Applies Ring Binding to prints.

    • Punch Only for Ring Binding

      Punches Ring Binding holes into prints.

  15. Ring Binding Position:

    Specify a binding position for Ring Binding.

  16. Perfect Binding Cutting Options:

    Specify a cutting option for Perfect Binding.

  17. Perfect Binding Paper Source Tray:

    Specify a source tray for Perfect Binding.

  18. Perfect Binding Position:

    Specify a binding position for Perfect Binding.

  19. Image Position (Along Binding Edge):

    Specify a print position in the direction parallel to the binding edge.

  20. Image Position (Across Binding Edge):

    Specify a print position in the direction perpendicular to the binding edge.

  21. Perfect Binding Finishing Size:

    Specify a finishing size for Perfect Binding.

  22. Cut Position Adjustment (Head Edge):

    Specify a cut position from the top edge of the paper.

  23. Cut Position Adjustment (Tail Edge):

    Specify a cut position from the bottom edge of the paper.

  24. Cut Position Adjustment (Fore Edge):

    Specify a cut position from the fore edge of the paper.

  25. Finishing Size (Along Binding Edge):

    Specify a finishing size for Perfect Binding along the binding edge.

  26. Perfect Binding Cover Sheet Print:

    Specify a print side for Perfect Binding Cover Sheet.

  27. Cover Position (Along Binding Edge):

    Specify a print position for the cover sheet in the direction parallel to the binding edge.

  28. Cover Position (Across Binding Edge):

    Specify a print position for the cover sheet in the direction perpendicular to the binding edge.

  29. Adjust Fore Edge Cut Position:

    Specify a cut position for the fore edge.

  30. Rotate by 180 degrees:

    Specify whether or not to rotate the image by 180 degrees when printing.

  31. Orientation Override:

    Select this setting when paper orientation cannot be specified in some applications. If data is rotated in unwanted direction on the output page, use this setting to specify the data orientation to be applied when printing.

  32. Eject Face-up:

    Specify whether or not to enable face-up outputs.

  33. Watermark:

    Set the Watermark function.

  34. Watermark Text:

    Select the Watermark text type.

  35. Watermark Font:

    Select the Watermark font type.

  36. Watermark Size:

    Select the Watermark size.

  37. Watermark Angle:

    Select the Watermark angle.

  38. Watermark Style:

    Select the Watermark style.

  39. Banner Page:

    The banner page is printed first in each print job. It shows the user name, the time and date when the job was printed, the host name, and the job name. This function is available only if you selected [Normal Print] in the [Job Type:] list.

  40. Banner Page Input Tray:

    Select an input tray.

  41. Banner Page Paper Type:

    Specify the type of printing medium you want to use.

  42. Booklet:

    Prints output so that you can fold it into a booklet.
