Tray Paper Settings

This section describes the user tools in the Tray Paper Settings menu under System Settings.

Important

  • If the specified paper size differs from the actual size of the paper loaded in the paper tray, a misfeed might occur because the correct paper size was not detected.

Paper Tray Priority: Copier (copier/Document Server)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Facsimile (facsimile)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Paper Tray Priority: Printer (printer)

Specify the tray to supply paper for output.

Default: [Tray 1]

Tray Paper Size: Tray 2

Select the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray.

The paper sizes you can set for tray 2 are as follows:

You can specify a custom size of between 139.7 - 297.0 mm (5.50 - 11.69 inch) vertically, and between 139.7 - 432.0 mm (5.50 - 17.00 inch) horizontally.

Tray Paper Size: Tray 3

Select the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray.

The paper sizes you can set for tray 3 are as follows:

Printer Bypass Paper Size

Specify the size of the paper loaded in the bypass tray when printing data from the computer.

The paper sizes you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

You can specify a custom size of between 100.0 - 305.0 mm (3.94 -12.00 inch) vertically, and between 139.7 - 600.0 mm (5.50 - 23.62 inch) horizontally

To allow users to specify a horizontal dimension of 600-1260 mm in "Custom Size", other settings must first be specified. For details about specifying custom paper sizes, contact your sales or service representative.

Paper Type: Bypass Tray

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the bypass tray.

The paper types you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Do not Display], [Recycled Paper], [Colour Paper 1], [Colour Paper 2], [Letterhead], [Label Paper], [Translucent Paper], [Preprinted Paper], [Bond Paper], [Cardstock], [Prepunched Paper], [OHP (Transparency)], [Special Paper], [Envelope]

The paper thicknesses you can set for the bypass tray are as follows:

  • [Plain Paper] (52 - 81 g/m2, 14 - 20 lb.Bond)

  • [Middle Thick] (82 - 103 g/m2, 20 - 28 lb.Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 1] (104 - 169 g/m2, 39 lb. Cover - 90 lb. Index)

  • [Thick Paper 2] (170 - 216 g/m2, 65 - 80 lb. cover)

Default for "Paper Type": [Do not Display]

Default for "Paper Thickness": [Plain Paper]

Default for "Apply Duplex": [Yes]

Default for "Apply Auto Paper Select": [Yes]

If [OHP (Transparency)], [Label Paper], [Translucent Paper] or [Envelope] is selected for "Paper Type", "Paper Thickness" is not available.

Paper Type: Tray 1

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the tray 1.

The print function uses this information to automatically select the paper tray.

The paper types you can set for the tray 1 are as follows:

  • [Middle Thick] (82 - 103 g/m2, 20 - 28 lb.Bond)

  • [Thick Paper 1] (104 - 169 g/m2, 39 lb. Cover - 90 lb. Index)

Default for "Paper Type": [Do not Display]

Default for "Paper Thickness": [Plain Paper]

Default for "Apply Duplex": [Yes]

Default for "Apply Auto Paper Select": [Yes]

If [Translucent Paper] is selected for "Paper Type", "Paper Thickness" is not available.

The key mark is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select".

Under the copier function, "Apply Auto Paper Select" is only available when [Do not Display] or [Recycled Paper] is selected as a paper type. "Apply Auto Paper Select" is unavailable when this setting or "Apply Duplex" is set to [No].

Paper Type: LCT (when the LCT is installed.)

Set the display so you can see what type of paper is loaded in the LCT.

The print function uses this information to automatically select the paper tray.

The paper types you can set for the LCT are as follows:

  • [Do not Display], [Recycled Paper], [Colour Paper 1], [Colour Paper 2], [Letterhead], [Preprinted Paper], [Bond Paper], [Prepunched Paper], [Special Paper]

The paper thicknesses you can set for the LCT are as follows:

Front Cover Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting front cover sheets.

After selecting the paper tray, you can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", front cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the front cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Back Cover Sheet Tray

Specify which paper tray you want to load the back covers from, and make sure confirmation of your setting is displayed. When you have selected the tray, specify the confirmation timing and the copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

When [At Mode Selected] is selected, back cover sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected.

When [Full Time] is selected, the back cover sheet tray is always displayed.

Slip Sheet Tray

You can specify and display the paper tray that is used for setting slip sheets.

You can also specify the display timing and copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

If you set this setting to [On], take note of the following:

When [At Mode Selected] is selected in "Display Time", slip sheet tray settings only appear when the cover function or slip sheet function is selected. When [Full Time] is selected, the slip sheet tray is always displayed.

Designation Sheet 1 Tray, Designation Sheet 2 Tray

Specify which paper tray you want to load the chapter division sheets from, and make sure confirmation of your setting is displayed. When you have selected the tray, specify the confirmation timing and the copy method for two-sided copying.

Default: [Off]

When [At Mode Selected] is selected, designation sheet 1 tray or designation sheet 2 tray settings only appear when the cover function, slip sheet function or designation sheet tray is selected.

When [Full Time] is selected, the designation sheet tray 1 or designation sheet tray 2 is always displayed.

Note

  • The paper guide for the LCT is fixed for A4, 81/2 × 11 size paper. Contact your service representative if you need to change the paper size.

  • If paper of the same type and size is loaded in two different paper trays and one of the trays is specified as the default in Paper Tray Priority when you want to specify tray for two-sided copying, assign two-sided copying to that tray.

  • Functions using the front cover sheet tray setting are the front cover function and front/back cover function.

  • The function for using Designation sheet 1 tray or Designation sheet 2 tray is designate.
