Changing printer settings requires Manage Printers permission. Members of the Administrators and Power Users groups have Manage Printers permission by default. When you set up the printer driver, log on using an account that has Manage Printers permission.
On the [Start] menu, click [Printers and Faxes].
The [Printers and Faxes] window appears.
Click the icon of the printer whose default you want to change.
On the [File] menu, click [Printing Preferences...].
The [Printing Preferences] dialog box appears.
Make the settings you require, and then click [OK].
Settings you make here are used as default for all applications.
