Turning Off the Main Power

CAUTION

  • When disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet, always pull the plug, not the cord. Pulling the cord can damage the power cord. Use of damaged power cords could result in fire or electric shock.

Important

  • After turning the machine's power off, wait at least a few seconds before turning it back on. If the message "Turn main Power Switch off" appears, turn the machine's power off, and wait until the main power switch indicator turns off. After the main power switch indicator is turned off, wait 10 seconds or more before, and then turn it on again. Never turn the power back on immediately after turning it off.

  • Before unplugging the power cord plug, turn off the main power switch and make sure the main power switch indicator turns off. Not doing so may result in damage to the hard disk or memory, leading to malfunctions.

  • Do not turn off the power while the machine is in operation.

1Open the main power switch cover, and then turn off the main power switch.

The main power indicator goes out.

Note

  • When the main power switch is turned off while using the fax function, waiting fax and print jobs may be cancelled, and incoming fax documents not received. If you have to turn off this switch for some reason, make sure 100% is shown as available memory on the screen before turning off the main power switch or unplugging the power cord. Fax files in memory are deleted an hour after you turn off the main power switch or unplug the power cord. If a file was deleted from memory, a Power Failure Report is automatically printed as soon as the power is restored. This report can be used to identify lost files. For details, see "Turning Off the Main Power / In the Event of Power Failure", Troubleshooting.
