Installing the PostScript 3 Printer Driver (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 / 2003 R2)

This section explains how to install the PostScript 3 printer driver under Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 /2003 R2 for use over a parallel port.

Important

  • Manage Printers permission is required to install the driver. Log on as an Administrators group member.

  • You can install the printer driver from the CD-ROM provided with this machine or download it from the manufacturer's Web site.

1Quit all applications currently running.

2Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

The installer starts.

3Select an interface language, and then click [OK].

The printer driver with the selected language will be installed. The English printer driver is installed when the following language is selected: Suomi, Magyar, Cestina, Polski, Portugues, Russian, Catala, Turkce.

4Click [PostScript 3 Printer Driver].

Add Printer Wizard starts.

5Click [Next >].

6Click [Local printer attached to this computer], and then click [Next >].

7Select the port you want to use, and then click [Next >].

A dialog box for selecting the machine manufacturer and model name appears.

8Select the name of the machine whose driver you want to install, and then click [Next >].

9Change the machine name if you want, and then click [Next >].

Select [Yes] to configure the machine as default.

10Select whether or not to share the machine, and then click [Next >].

11Specify whether or not to print a test page, and then click [Next >].

12Click [Finish].

If the [Hardware Installation] message appears, click [Continue Anyway].

Note

  • A user code can be set after the printer driver installation. For information about user code, see the printer driver Help.

  • Auto Run may not work with certain operating system settings. In that case, launch "Setup.exe" on the CD-ROM root directory.
