Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 - USB

This section explains how to install the PostScript 3 printer driver under Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 for use over a USB interface.

Important

  • Manage Printers permission is required to install the driver. Log on as an Administrators group member.

If the printer driver has already been installed, plug and play is enabled, and the icon of the machine connected to the "USB" port is added to the [Printers] window.

The printer drivers can be installed from the CD-ROM provided with this machine.

If the printer driver is not installed, follow the plug-and-play instructions of the machine to install it from the CD-ROM provided with this machine.

1Connect the machine to the computer using the USB cable.

Connect the USB cable firmly.

2In the Found New Hardware window, select [Locate and install driver software (recommended)].

Click [Continue] if the [User Account Control] window appears.

3When a message prompting insertion of the CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

4Select the name of the machine whose driver you want to install, and then click [Next >].

Installation of the printer driver is automatically started.

If "Windows can't verify the publisher of this software" display appears in the installation, select the [Install this driver software anyway].

5Click [Close].

If installation is successful, the icon of this machine connected to the "USB001" port is added to the [Printers] window.

Note

  • Depending on your computer's operating system, the [AutoPlay] dialog box may appear. If this happens, click [Run SETUP.EXE]. If the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Continue] to allow the autoplay program to run.

  • When a printer driver meeting this machine is found on a network, a message prompting insertion of the CD-ROM is not displayed.

  • The number after "USB" varies depending on the number of machines connected.
