Configuring the Port Settings

Use the following procedure to configure the port settings for the printer driver that is already installed.

1On the [Start] menu, click [Control Panel], and then click [Printers and Faxes] in the [Printers and Other Hardware] category.

The [Printers and Faxes] window appears.

2Click the icon of the printer you want to use.

3On the [File] menu, click [Properties].

The printer properties dialog box appears.

4Click the [Ports] tab, and then click [Configure Port...].

5Select [LPR] in the [Protocol] area, and then enter a virtual printer name in the [Queue Name] box under [LPR Setting].

Specify the virtual printer name that matches the page description language you require:

  • PostScript: postscript

  • PCLXL: pclxl

  • PCL5e: vp-pcl

6Select the [LPR Byte Counting Enabled] check box, and then clear the [SNMP Status Enabled] check box.

7Click [OK].

8Click [Close].
