Installing the PostScript 3 Printer Driver (Windows XP/Vista, Windows Server 2003/2003 R2)

Important

  • Installing this printer driver requires Administrators permission. Log on using an account that has Administrators permission.

  • In an IPv6 environment, you cannot use the LPR Port. Use the SmartDeviceMonitor port.

1Quit all applications currently running.

2Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

The installer starts.

3Select an interface language, and then click [OK].

The default interface language is English.

4Click [PostScript 3 Printer Driver].

Add Printer Wizard starts.

Step 5 does not apply for Windows Vista users.

5Click [Next >].

6Click [Local Printer attached to this computer], and then click [Next >].

If the [Automatically detect and install Plug and Play Printer] check box is selected, clear it.

If you are using Windows Vista, you do not need to click [Next >].

7Click [Create a new port:].

8Click [LPR Port] in [Create a new Port], and then click [Next >].

9Enter the printer's IP address in the [Name or address of server providing lpd] box.

10Enter "lp" in the [Name of printer or print queue on that server] box, and then click [OK].

11Check that the name of the printer whose driver you want to install is selected, and then click [Next >].

12Change the printer name if you want, and then click [Next >].

Select the [Yes] check box to configure the printer as default.

Step 13 does not apply for Windows Vista users.

13Click [Next >].

14Specify whether or not to print a test page, and then click [Next >].

If you are using Windows Vista, you do not need to click [Next >].

15Click [Finish].

The printer driver installation starts.

Note

  • Auto Run may not work with certain operating system settings. If this happens, launch "Setup.exe" on the CD-ROM root directory.

  • The printer driver with the selected language will be installed. The English printer driver is installed when the following language is selected: Cestina, Magyar, Polski, Portugues, Suomi.

  • A User Code can be set after the printer driver installation. For information about User Code, see the printer driver Help.
