Loading Paper into Tray 1

This section describes how to load paper into tray 1.

CAUTION


  • When loading paper, take care not to trap or injure your fingers.

Important

  1. Lift and pull tray 1 carefully, and then pull it out with both hands.

    Place the tray on a flat surface.

  2. While pressing down the release lever, slide the side fences outward.

  3. While pressing down the release lever, slide the end fence until it is aligned with the size of paper you want to load.

  4. Set the paper thickness setting switch on the front side of tray 1 according to the type of the loaded paper.

    When loading paper that is 106 g/m2 (28 lb. Bond) or thicker, slide the switch to the left.

  5. Fan the paper before loading paper in the tray.

  6. Square the paper and load it print side down.

    Do not stack paper over the limit mark.

  7. Align the side fences gently against the paper you loaded.

  8. Hold the tray with both hands, slide it along the rails of the machine, and then push it straight in.

  9. Check the paper size on the display.
